Cycling To Mamallapuram….

dsc00825

It was another early morning  when  i got up before alarm , thinking of the scary 120 km ride  which everyone  around me said “Are you nuts/crazy”.I felt giving  a shot, if not possible  thought of   returning back.Without cycling for quit a while (actually 4 yrs 🙂   ), i felt strange on  riding  for the first few miles. The day before i  contacted radha who was organising  this  trek and felt relaxed that i can join them   if  guys were too fast during ride .

Me n praveen took the motorbike ride till IIT and  we  got assembled there at 5.15am.Then came bharath n radha where we had a quick introduction and moved to tidel park joining the rest of the folks . We had the rest intros on the way riding.Soon i realised that it was such a pleasent experience to ride early in the morning which i had missed allthese years. As notihng wasprepared for cycling, my seat played vital role in this trip gifted me with high velocity pressure (technically nothing but ache @ my bum :)).We had some  stop for bumbreaks and continued our biking.I was accompanied by bharath ,an IITian and midhu, a citibank ofiicial on the way throughout the onward trip. Thanks to both folks so that i avoided lonnely rides. The rest 3 musketers radha , sritej and Nanda zoomed away.We had a  10 mins stop at 2 places @ semiconductor comp and other @ vinayaka mission. Then we reached mahabs enjoying the scenic beauty all the way..We were all quite excited  that wereached mahabs without  much pain.

We had a hefty brunch around 12 @ dhaba express with some cool chats. We roamed  around the beach n temple for a while and made our plans for return. we started 4 the return  trip with full josh!!!!

we chose ECR  to enjoy the sea breeze while riding.. but we realised the disaster when  the sea breeze was in opposite direction and too it was a mid-day..we lost our hopes after the 1st 15 km ride…we started juggling btwn bikes for next few kms… and we got parted altoghther evry1 were riding alone at some distance…finally we joined up  near VGP n i  was the last to arrive..  we keep pedalling till IIT -M  although  i felt dropping off ..we felt really great n relieved for completing our 1st cycling trip till mahabs!!!! we had a quick n relaxed  chat n started kicking up to our home..Hurray it was a wonderful learning n memorable trip to preseve….

Tirupathi bike trip….

team - ctc

team – ctc

Finally i made a one day bike trip to tirupathi 6 months after joining  CTC…i would say it is one of the longest day in my life as like chetan bhagat ..we had assembled  at koyambedu at early 4.30  since it is our first time and got quite confused that we got landed up in a wrong place …after moving back and forth little bit …we found a bunch of people in the same place ..we got introduced to few ppl there ..and started the journey…

First  and second mistake we did was joining them without registration and not given  them our contact detials and following the scorpio (in midway we r nt  aware tht we r following another car) through the flashlight which let us to end up in a different route through tada NH…i hope they waited for a while and started after getting my call…we went all alone to  tirupathi mising the bunch of ppl and the fun … had  few bumps and few skids in our bike near kalahasthi…which assured us  the wound that wouldnt leave us for two weeks (any way we covered it up with our  new Tshirts 🙂 )…we  reached tirupathi before  every1 and did our first aid from appollo pharmacy there …finally we joined with giri sir and a buch of ppl there for breakfast…whew….we made it finally …

Then we started from Alipiri  for the step trek which every1 thought  that it would be  a forest  ride…although we are quite  dissapointed that  it was only  a step  trek …we had a good time getting  along with people like bala, satya, ashwin, amrish, anand, ramprasad, ashok, phaneesh, krithi, giri sir, delphine, ram, ansar…damn it really hard to remember the name rather faces;).finally we reached 2388 steps without much break n pitstops which was quite easier compared to other route which was 3500 steps n almost  thrice the distace of  around 9 kms…any ways up in the hillswe didnt have a grt time..we has our lunchwhch was really good n vsited some funny places like demolished temple, akash ganga..n some park…i hope its jus for our relaxation…we finally left back through the steps this time it was quicker than we thought ..wow we reached the base in 40 mins dude….we had some good chat with people over there and we started kicking our bikes.

We assured that this time we should be a  bit careful while returning  we need to tailgate the car not the flashlightsbut in the midway my bke screwed us in a  deserted village on sunday night…finally we managed to reach the next village with the help of giri sir, phaneesh n co  and got our bike repaired..Third  mistake  we did was choosing the path through tiruttani …which was quite painful reach to  chennai at midnight  through thiruvalluvar ,avadi, thirumullaivoyal, padi route..

Finally we learnt our 3 mistakes of our trip …..(oops!!!!…sorry bhagat   🙂 )

oh man it was really a great experience n a grt weekend rather that watching movies or relaxing  in beach …thanks to the CTC team, bala ,ramprasad for making a wonderful trip….

Airconditioned transportation….

My first  thanks to the  Govt for implementing  the airconditioned transportation in chennai soon…i expected it  would be possible after 2-3 years when i saw the transportation in bangalore….The silky smooth ride make us  to feel get rid of tiresome   sunny outing in mtc busus or share autos …so we can now be ready to hav a chill ride any time  anywhere in chennai but  of less frequency .. hope it gets well soon and expectin more metro trains and  comfortable modes of transportation in singara chennai….

Though i  joined the trip late , i didnt miss the party at night and  the camp fire ….we were flattered by the guest house constructed  by the british and the lifestyle they lived during that period ….we cannot imagine such a sophistcated facilities during 1928.Finally we had a good and memorable time at valaparai…..

Please don’t drive fast behind an ambulance!!!!!

We see/hear atleast thrice in two days an ambulance siren and also the vehicle trying to flee through the busy roads and traffic. And being in Chennai, where traffic is mounting day by day and having 10lakh vehicles per day would be very difficult for the ambulance to passby.

The ambulance driver will find the best way to pass through the roads in the same time he has many lives in his hand, his own, people on road and also patient in ambulance. Since there is no seperate way or route for the ambulance to pass through we try to hornk and make people to give way for ambulance. What best we can do from our side when we have the ambulance behind is just move in a way where the vehicle can cut through the traffic and move faster. But our chennai people! wow! heights of stupidity! Most of the bikers and cyclist and even cars! sometime run behind the ambulance and aheading to the destination faster!. Running behind the ambulance might be of great risk. What if the driver puts a break when he cannot find a way or he has to make a sudden turn. He can be cautious while driving but not the people who are following the ambulance from behind to reach faster at their destination.

I happend to see similar accident this morining at saidapet corner. You can imagine how busy that road would be and how the traffic would flow in peak hour morning times.

If Chennai is really reading/seeing and listening to this issue/concern. Pl keep in mind that there is a life in do or die situation and we have to pray or  make way to make him reach the hospital at the earliest.
